It's October and that means pumpkins are EVERYWHERE! Our kindergartners picked a character from our favorite book and created a pumpkin to look like that character. While writing our reports, we wrote about what the character did in the story and whether or not we liked that character, siting reasons for our opinions. We displayed them in the elementary library for everyone to see.
We were so fortunate to have some firefighters come and visit our room to teach us about fire safety! Thank you to Neil's dad, Tim Pilgrim, and firefighters Eric Weiland and Travis Kramschuster for showing us what a firefighter looks and sounds like in full gear, as well as teaching us what to do in case of a fire. Thank you Amilee (and family) for helping to set this up for us! We completed Pumpkin Math, in which we discussed and charted attributes of pumpkins, counted the number of lines on the pumpkin, weighed the pumpkin and measured how many cubes tall it was. Another part of our math lesson included counting the number of pumpkin seeds in a pumpkin. We had some help from Mrs. Mahr's 5th grade class, counting groups of 10 until we found out how many seeds our pumpkin had. Thank you 5th graders for your help!! We went to Ferguson's Apple Orchard to learn about the life cycle of an apple. While we were there, we met some new animals, toured the spooky haunted house, got lost in the corn maze, went on a wagon ride and enjoyed a delicious apple! Thank you to the parent chaperones for helping us while we were there! It was such a fun day!! Due to the generosity of some family and friends, our class was sponsored so each student will receive a FREE book every month from September through May! We were so excited to read our new books!
Welcome to Kindergarten! We are so excited to see what is in store for us this year!! September 2018
